Today we’re featuring an amazing Peaks of Otter wedding! We couldn’t be more excited to introduce you to our sweet bride, Julie, and her high school sweetheart, Spencer. They planned the most beautiful wedding overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. Before we get there though, we need to tell you all about the proposal! Here’s what Julie had to say!
HOW HE PROPOSED
He proposed on Anna Maria Island in Florida which is one of most stunning beaches ever. I had it in my mind that he was going to propose while on vacation, as it was 6 years to the week that we had met. He likes to think I was clueless, but I had an idea of what might happen — said Julie.
THE PLANNING PROCESS
Planning a wedding is definitely not for the faint of heart. While it can be a lot of fun, it can get overwhelming at times too. When we asked her what the wedding planning process was like, Julie said: Planning my wedding was lots of fun, but I wished my girls had been closer so we could have spent more time planning as a group.
THE WEDDING DRESS
Julie is one of our Ashley Grace brides, and we absolutely loved the way she looked in her gorgeous lace gown. I shopped at several different bridal salons before settling on the style and material that best matched my wedding theme. All the girls at AGB were incredibly helpful and sweet! I’ve since recommended that several other friends sho there when their special day comes! — Julie
THE WEDDING DAY
It was such a spotty day weather wise, so I was slightly nervous for that. My husband called right before we got to the wedding venue and asked last minute if we wanted to move the ceremony outside. It was a spur of the moment decision to move everything back outside, but the clouds and mist were dreamy!
One of my favorite moments was our first look! Such a sweet and intimate moment that I will cherish all my life. We shared written vows that we plan to read to one another every anniversary. My in-laws also requested a special choreographed dance for our reception! I will never forget watching my father-in-law counting out the beats while dancing! Totally Dancing with the Stars worthy!
SPECIAL MOMENTS AT THEIR PEAKS OF OTTER WEDDING
One special moment was definitely having my husband’s grandfather pray a blessing over us during the ceremony. Also, Spencer is a big, tough guy that doesn’t show his emotions much, except when it comes to me. He was so excited to see me and kept telling me over and over how beautiful I was and that he was the luckiest man alive.
