Virginia Elopement: Sam + Amber

How did you and your husband meet?

“We met at Liberty University! We were on each other’s brother/sister dorm. The day that I saw him in a picture, I messaged my best friend to ask his name since they had already met. We became friends very quickly, and 4 months later, went on our first date! I knew from the day that I met him that he was the man I wanted to marry. :)”

Do you have an interesting engagement story? How and where did he ask?

“Our first date was on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s always been our favorite place to go, so he asked at one of the overlooks! I thought he was out of town. I planned a birthday dinner with my sister and our family, but it turned into a proposal. After he proposed, he took me to the Peaks of Otter Lodge, where I thought we were getting dinner with our families. Turns out, it was a surprise engagement party with our closest friends and family!”

What was your experience like in searching for the perfect dress?

“Searching for my dress was my FAVORITE thing to do!! I’m such a planner, so details are my favorite! I knew when I put my dress on, it was the dress I wanted to get married in.”

Did you incorporate anything special in your Virginia elopement that reflects you as a couple?

“We wrote our own vows! It was a way to incorporate our own words into our ceremony and really be able to reflect on our love for each other. We now have them on a canvas hanging above our bed. :)”
