Doug and Shannon’s Hawaii wedding was such a dream and we couldn’t be more excited to feature this destination elopement! Keep reading to find out more about their love story and wedding dress shopping experience at Ashley Grace Bridal.

The Proposal

“We had planned a trip together to Peru. The first night there, we got locked out of our Airbnb. We drove 8 hours the night before through the Andes mountains into a small town. We hiked all morning to Machu Picchu where everything failed to go according to plan!! The tickets we bought were not valid, my feet were blistering, and the Huayna Picchu summit was already closed for the day. However, he ended up proposing there after writing a beautiful poem to me.”

What was your experience like in searching for the perfect dress?

“After spending the day shopping, I was tired and ready to go home. I had found a dress previously that I liked, but wasn’t absolutely 100% sold on it. When stepping into Ashley Grace, the bridal stylist was so helpful. She had picked a few dresses out and when I tried on the first one, it fit like a glove off the rack. It was the perfect dress! My mother started crying and that’s when I knew it was the one!”

The Wedding Day

“Since we eloped just the two of us, my best friend made my bouquet. We did a first look and wrote our own vows. I ended up writing mine on the way to the ceremony!

Also, we had rented a car for our trip, but my husband had taken it to do his thing since I wanted to get ready alone in the hotel room. I wasn’t sure how I was going to get to our ceremony and our hotel didn’t have a shuttle. I thought I was going to have to Uber!! My sweet makeup artist ended up offering a ride there, which she had to coordinate with her mother-in-law who was watching her kids. They ended up riding with us there! We couldn’t find the exact beach location, and of course, I was running late (per usual). When I got there I was getting ready to walk up to the beach when I realized I had left the bouquet in the car! Luckily, I was able to call my makeup artist and she was able to quickly come back by so I could get it!”

Many thanks to the amazing vendors who brought Doug and Shannon’s Hawaii wedding to life!
